letter to DOJ to print and mail

To Whom It May Concern:

We express gratitude to the Department of Justice for undertaking an investigation into the killing of Danroy “DJ” Henry in Westchester County, New York. The seemingly biased and inept investigation conducted by the various Police Departments involved, has offended our sense of justice and raised considerable doubts as to the integrity of the procedures followed in the handling of this case.

We trust that the Department of Justice will use all of the resources at its disposal when investigating this matter to ensure that justice is served. This includes gathering information independently rather than relying on data received from local agencies, speaking directly to witnesses and accessing and viewing any and all electronic recordings of that evening’s events. Because without an exhaustive investigation into the possibility that misconduct may have been perpetrated on the part of the responding officers, we may never truly understand the events which took place and this matter may never fully be put to rest.

We urge the Department of Justice to demand transparency, accountability, and truthfulness from the officers involved and the police departments as a whole. We believe that these are the most fundamental tenets of the service that law enforcement officers provide to our society, and it is only through the universal application of these values that we can ensure the fair and impartial administration of justice for all citizens.

Again, thank you for your commitment to this matter.

Respectfully Yours,

a letter to print and mail to Andrew M. Cuomo Governor of New York State

Date

The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo

Governor of New York State

NYS State Capitol Building

Albany, NY 12224

Dear Governor Cuomo:

On October 17, 2010, a wonderful young man was shot and killed by Pleasantville, New York police officer Aaron Hess for reasons still unknown. The young man was Danroy (DJ) Henry, Jr. He was a Pace University student, he played football for Pace. DJ was loving, kind and a vital part of the lives of so many people who miss him desperately.

From the start, the circumstances surrounding DJ's death have been rife with contradictions, suspicious actions and statements on the part of the police, and flagrant wrongs on the part the entire hierachy of Law Enforcement of Westchester County, New York, from the level of the police upward to District Attorney Janet DiFiore's office.

The United States Department of Justice is now investigating this case and while it's determination is gratefully awaited, more needs to be done. It is important that as many eyes as possible review the details and evidence of this case. Recently, a New York Grand Jury failed to indict Officer Aaron Hess, but this determination seems to be more of a symptom of the issues in Westchester County rather than a fair decision based on evidence.

Thank you in advance for any and all attention that you may be able to give to this egregious matter.

Sincerely yours,

(name)
