The Honorable Thomas E. Perez
U.S. Department of Justice
Civil Rights Division
950 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.
Office of the Assistant Attorney General, Main
Washington, D.C. 20530
Dear Assistant Attorney General Perez:
I respectfully request and urge the United States Department of Justice to begin an immediate, impartial and unbiased investigation into the shooting death of Danroy Henry, the PACE University student who died on October 17, 2010 outside of a bar in Thornwood, New York. We believe that the Mt. Pleasant Police Department is too closely involved with the tragic death of Danroy Henry to conduct a comprehensive and objective investigation of itself and the circumstances surrounding his death. We call for the United States Department of Justice to take over this investigation immediately and ensure that an independent and neutral investigation occurs and that all information uncovered is reported impartially and without prejudice.
Sincerely,
The Honorable Thomas E. Perez
